LPGA Names New Members To Player Executive Committee

At the final designated LPGA Player Meeting of the season at last week’s Kapalua LPGA Classic in Hawaii, LPGA Tour members elected their representatives for the 2009 LPGA Player Executive Committee.

Helen Alfredsson, Michelle Ellis and Stacy Prammanasudh were elected to three-year terms. Their terms begin immediately. They join current Committee Player Directors Pat Hurst, Juli Inkster, Angela Stanford and Sherri Steinhauer to comprise the 2009 LPGA Player Executive Committee. These player directors also serve on the LPGA Board of Directors.

Alfredsson, from Sweden, becomes the first-ever International Player Director. The LPGA Board of Directors and the Tour membership approved of this new Board seat earlier this season. This seat is open to any Tour player who elects international member status and is in at least her fourth consecutive year on Tour.

The LPGA Player Executive Committee voted Ellis as president and Steinhauer as vice president. Ellis, a native of Australia, joined the LPGA Tour in 2001, and served as a non-voting Executive Committee member for the 2008 LPGA season. Steinhauer, from Wisconsin, is an eight-time LPGA Tour winner since joining the LPGA in 1986.

The LPGA Board of Directors is composed of six independent directors, the LPGA Player Executive Committee and the national president of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals. The commissioner of the LPGA serves as an ex-officio Board member. In addition, up to three players serve on the Player Executive Committee as non-voting members.
