D-Wade Teams Up With Mourning To Run Annual Charity Event

Eventually, Dwyane Wade wore down Alonzo Mourning the way Wade does defenses.

That persistence forged yet another bond between the Miami Heat teammates Thursday, when Mourning and Wade announced a partnership agreement to run Zo’s Summer Groove charity events.

Mourning and Wade have major roles for the 12th annual Zo’s Summer Groove, scheduled for July 9-13.

The highlight of the fund-raising events again is a celebrity basketball game. But this time, Wade, 26, will anchor the ”new school” players and Mourning, 38, is in charge of the ”old school” roster.

Mourning and Wade each has his own charitable organizations, but both said it was better to combine efforts to raise money to benefit South Florida youth organizations.

”I admire the young fella for not only what he’s done on the court, but for the person he is,” Mourning said of Wade. “There’s going to be a day when he’s going to head this event, take the torch and run with it.”
