Comment on Serena Williams Refuses To Play At Indian Wells by Gary

At the time this incident happened throughout the whole match the tournament organizers and officials made no announcements requesting the crowd to refrain from booing/jeering or making racially abusive remarks. A teenager was allowed to face a hostile abusive crowd of several thousands of people on her own over an extended period of time!

Several members of the crowd at Indian Wells that day have publicly expressed their embarrassment, disappointment and enduring memory of the behaviour of the crowd.

However, neither Larry Scott, CEO of the WTA Tour or the Indian Wells owners/investors have provided any information on what measures they would take to prevent paying members of the public including children and players being exposed to such abuse in the future. They have not indicated what measures they have put in place to show that such behaviour is unacceptable! Is this the professional image they wish to portray for tennis?

This is especially surprising since a new blue-print for the WTA was recently released. Can a professional sports association be seen to tolerate the intolerable whilst it's athletes (not just the Williams sisters but many of the top 10 seeds) continue to vote with their feet? It seems as if the new generation tennis players reflect the predominating attitudes of their generation on a whole and have no tolerance for the intolerable.

Serena was and is FIRST a human being - then somewhere down the list she is a professional tennis player. The WTA seem only to have been able to focus on the commodity of the tennis player and not the human being. Ultimately, this will prove to be bad business as the essence of sport is about 'human' challenge and the achievement of human potential and it is this that makes the best and most compelling drama. Sports answers the question what is it possible for a human being to achieve?

Williams sisters - stay human and stay away! Larry Scott/WTA/Indian Wells - humaneness is good sports business!

While this is quite an impressive system and can offer some peace of mind to the traveling athlete; it should not be viewed as the answer to all of your home security concerns or problems. Being able to see what is going on is just a part of how to respond or deal with a situation. Its like the time when car alarms were the in thing and alarms were sounding off throughout the day every day, so much that when heard they were ignored and vehicles were still being stolen. The audio alarm was only a part of securing the vehicle, not the cure all.

My suggestion to anyone deciding to have this awesome system installed would be to add supplemental components that will enhance the overall security footprint of the residence.

One element alone will not solve all of your security concerns. Security, whether residential or personal, is comprised of several pieces to comprise a solid security puzzle.

Thanks so much for posting this story and calling attention to the crucial issue of organ donation. Wishing the best to the Tillman family and Tiana.

With 4,700 Illinois residents and nearly 100,000 people on the national transplant waiting list, the need for registrations is at an all time high. Be sure to hop over to www.ShareYourLife.org and find out how to register in your state. It will only take a moment of your day, but may someday save the life of someone like Tiana.

This is great news for me, as I designed my own shoe line through PEAK. You can check out my work at http://www.myspace.com/hbathletics or email me at kobimcintyre@aol.com
My very first full production limited-run basketball shoe is the
(HB: Aviator “All Things Fly”). It bears the PEAK logo on the bottom of the sole. HB stands for Hyper-boy athletics. The HB: Aviator sells for $35 with free delivery or shipping. Trust me he signed with them for a reason. They do have realy good designers. The quality and comfort is realy amaizing for a basketball shoe. Don’t sleep on the PEAK Son!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit the soldiers. My son is a platoon leader at FOB Tillman, those men are real heroes. As a mother I want you to know your visit is very much appreciated.

When my son was home on leave he commented on how lucky we are to live in this country and how we take the freedoms we have for granted. Our men in the armed forces are the reason why we can enjoy the lives we have here. Their sacrifices keep us free.

Please keep all the soldiers in your thoughts and prayers.

I respect athletes and coaches who honor God and give Him praise for all that He has given them. The popular thing is to be politically correct and not mention your faith. It takes courage to take a stand. Some athletes act as if they somehow gave the ability they have to themselves. A verse in the Bible speaks to this much better than I can. "For who makes you different than anyone else? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?"
(1 Corinthians 4:7) It's refreshing to see athletes thank God for the abilities they have and for the opportunities they have been blessed with and show some humility.
